About

When the Orchard Inn (now The Royal Oak) closed its doors, two local businesses came together to fill the void the closure left in the community.

Bloodstock agent Tom Malone approached Jon and Millie Coward, known for their successes as owners of The Bear Inn, Wiveliscombe, and The Martlet Inn, Langford Budville. Through their collaboration, the all-new Royal Oak was born.

We’ve owned and operated pubs for 20 years. We enjoy creating warm and welcoming spaces and offering food you can’t just whip up at home – food that’s worth going out for. This is the best way we can serve our customers and the community.

Regional inspiration

As a nod to Tom and the local region’s equestrian connection, there are racing-themed touches throughout the pub. Racing events, like the Grand National, can be watched at the pub throughout the year.

Local Producers

The West Country is spoilt for choice with incredible food and drink producers, and many of the best are within a couple of miles of The Royal Oak. In fact, Tim Potters, our primary butcher, won Butcher of the Year 2023. Our coffee is from local roastery, Brazier, in Wellington. Local beers are served by producers like Exmoor Ales and spirits, such as premium gin from Dryad Gin, a distiller in the Quantocks.
